Buying from a Used Car Dealership

Used Car Dealership

Are you thinking of buying a used car? There are many advantages that come with buying a used vehicle over a new one. Most importantly, there’s huge cost savings to be had. Most cars lose almost half their value the minute you drive them out of a dealership, therefore why not find used cars that are in almost new condition for just a fraction of their original price.

Beware however, for not all used cars are worth investing in. Private sellers don’t always tell the truth when it comes to the cars’ condition. There are also many other problems that can crop up when you’re dealing with a private sale. That’s why it is often beneficial to search for an approved used car dealership.

Providing you with Car Finance

One of the main advantages of purchasing through an approved used car dealer is the fact that you can benefit from car finance. Let’s face it, most of us don’t have the funds available to simply buy a car outright. Even if you do have a few hundred pounds spare, it’s not going to get you a top of the range model. With car finance you can buy a better model than you’d otherwise be able to afford, and you can pay it off overtime, generally in monthly instalments.

There are two main types of finance available, hire purchase and PCP. To decide which of these options is right for you, you’ll need to think about whether you actually want to own the vehicle once you’ve finished paying for it, or whether you’d like to exchange it at the end of the contract term.   Leasing is quite popular as repairs are taken care of for you and you don’t have to worry about finding a buyer when you’ve had enough of the vehicle.

Not all car dealerships will offer a finance plan on used cars sales so it’s worth doing your research and finding a used car dealer who does!

Benefit from dealer expertise

Another reason to opt for a used car dealer is for their expertise, they know what to look for when a new used vehicle comes into their possession. They have far more technical and mechanical knowledge than a private seller and this means you can be guaranteed that the car you buy will have gone through a series of rigorous tests and checks to confirm it’s roadworthy and reliable. It’s likely to be in far better condition than a vehicle from a private seller, that is of course unless you are buying a classic car, or from a complete car enthusiast!

It’s also worth asking for a written guarantee of any repairs that have been conducted if you buy from a dealer.

Better choice of Used Car Stock

Of course, another advantage you’ll benefit from when you visit most UK used car dealerships is that they will have a larger inventory of used cars for sale, featuring most of the major brands such as Volkswagen, Honda and SEAT.  Some of the top used cars you can find at a local car dealership include, Honda CR-V, Volkswagen Golf, SEAT Leon and VW Transporter.  So it’s worth doing a little research online, as most reputable UK car dealers now have extensive online used car inventory, allowing the prospective buyer to have a detailed look at the vehicle without having to step inside the car showroom!

For those in search of a new car but not wanting to pay the high price tag of a brand new car, then buying from a trusted and professional used car dealer is the way to go.  You’ll be amazed at the different types of deals available on used cars, with many dealerships offering service and maintenance plans, as well as several payment options too!
