Some of the Best Luxury Cars

Audi A8

Luxury cars are designed, primarily, to make travelling on the road as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. With their well-equipped interiors, excellent performance, supremely smooth rides and high levels of both head and leg room, the luxury car is the equivalent of first-class travel.

Here we look at some of the best luxury cars available:

Mercedes S-Class Saloon

The recently updated S-Class saloon continues to be one of the top luxury cars on the market. The comfort of its interior is paramount to the success of the S-Class and it offers plenty of legroom, massaging seats and double-glazed windows. Its soft air suspension makes for one of the smoothest rides in the world and the handling is surprisingly good as well, while the engine is quiet yet very powerful. In terms of technology and equipment, the S-Class really is class-leading. In our opinion, the S-Class is one of the best luxury cars out there, bearing in mind features, performance and price.

Range Rover SUV

The Range Rover is probably one of the most practical of all the luxury cars available. It offers incredible interior quality and ride and the most recent model weighs 400kg less than its predecessor which means less emissions and greater fuel economy. The engine of choice is the V6 diesel, which gives more than enough power and 38 miles to the gallon. No other luxury car boasts practical features such as the electrically-operated tail gate fitted to the Range Rover to provide easy boot access.

Audi A8 saloon

The A8 is a comfortable and quiet cruiser but it is also genuinely good fun to drive. Its Audi Drive Select system allows the driver to choose how soft or sporty to make the suspension. So the A8 can transform from a luxury cruiser to a real driver’s car at the touch of a button. The interior is very well put together and includes massaging, temperature-controlled seats. There is plenty of room in both the back and front and the double-glazed windows reduce noise to almost zero levels.

Jaguar XJ saloon

The XJ is fast, a pleasure to drive and loaded with features. It sacrifices some comfort in order to achieve its fantastic handling but it is still nice and quiet, easy to control and extremely stylish, inside and out. The 3 litre diesel option gives a decent 47 miles per gallon and automatic transmission, sat-nav system, climate control and leather seats are all available as standard.

Porsche Panamera hatchback

The Panamera may lack a little in terms of style compared with its direct rivals such as the Maserati Quattroporte but this is more than substituted for by the fantastic driving experience it provides. In fact, the top of the range Turbo S model approaches supercar speeds while still easily seating four people. Although a little slower, the diesel engine option gives 44 miles per gallon which is almost as economical as the XJ. The Panamera is the most expensive of our pick of the luxury cars but if you can spare the cash, it is well worth its high price tag.
