Posted on 28 November 2012 by Tony Santos

Mazda is riding a wave of success from its bestselling crossover the CX-5. This crossover is selling like hotcakes as fast as Mazda can build them –sales numbers are up to 9.5-percent overall. And from this momentum, it’s the ideal time to seed the all-new 2014 Mazda6, born from the Takeri Concept that dazzled the world at its unveiling in 2011, the new Mazda6 is the street-ready articulation of our new KODO “soul of motion” design language. But it’s much more than scorching good looks—the experience behind the wheel more than delivers on the promise of the exterior.

The all-new Mazda6 will be running on both 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G gasoline engine and 2.2-liter turbodiesel Skyactiv-D I4 faired with six-speed automatic transmission that is capable of generating 189HP (European version).

Aside from its aesthetic ingenuity, the Mazda6 housed some of the most advance and environmental friendly technologies:

Mazda’s i-ELOOP brake energy regeneration system integrates a variable voltage alternator with a low-resistance, high-discharge double layer capacitor and a DC/DC converter to quickly harvest energy during deceleration periods which powers all the car’s electrical systems.

With the world’s lowest diesel-engine compression ratio, the Mazda SKYACTIV-D is a clean, highly-efficient diesel engine that will comply with strict exhaust gas regulations globally without the aid of expensive NOx aftertreatment systems.

The all-new 2014 Mazda6 sedan, scheduled to appear in U.S. showrooms January 2013.
