Porsche 918 Spyder sets 7min 14sec lap at Nürburgring Nordschleife

The latest Porsche 918 Spyder have just officially took a lap at Germany’s famous Nürburgring Nordschleife for just 7min 14sec making the new hybrid supercar one of the fastest petrol-electric on the track.

Porsche didn’t provide any details of the driver when the prototype attain the fastest lap but the auto maker says that notably the Porsche 918 Spyder were equipped with an optional ‘Weissach package’ and  running the Michelin road tyres.

Though the Porsche revealed the package, it is still mum on what the kit includes to run the 918 Spyder faster. It is rumored that the Weissach package focuses on reducing the weight of the new hybrid Spyder which is believed to also include upgraded brakes and six-point harnesses.

Officially at the recorded lap time of the 918 Spyder, it dethrones the Carrera GT’s record by 18 seconds back on 2004. The record makes the 918 Spyder one of the fastest road-legal car to take on the Nürburgring circuit.

The Porsche 918 Spyder is powered by 4.6-litre V8 petrol engine along with front-mounted pair of electric motors. Porsche also revealed that the supercar hybrid is capable of producing staggering 784bhp.
