Peugeot 208 GTi Concept

Prior to its debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, Peugeot has released details on its new production-ready GTi Concept based on the Peugeot 208 Supermini.

The new Peugeot 208 GTi concept is a three-door hatchback which rides on a set of five-spoke alloy wheels. It features an aerodynamic kit with wheel arch extensions, a mesh grill, side skirts, roof spoiler and rear diffuser housing dual chrome tailpipes.

Under the hood, the concept car will be powered by a 1.6L 4-cylinder turbo engine making 200 hp at 5,000 rpm with a torque of 188 lb-ft that can be overboost to 203 lb-ft. The power for this front-wheel-drive car is managed by a 6-speed manual transmission.

The new concept has been widen by 36 mm on the front and rear tracks and receives a new break system and re-tuned suspension.

Inside, the Peugeot 208 GTi features a leather steering wheel with a flat bottom, Alcantara trim on the dash, with a cloth panel stretching thought the center, aluminum pedals and sport seats with Nappa leather trim.

The Peugeot 208 GTi Concept has already been approved for production and is expected to be released later this year at the Paris Motor Show, to go on sale in 2013.
