2012 Porsche 911 Carrera

The new generations of the Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera S have just enter dealerships with an almost entirely redefined components, lighter in weight, bigger body, and installed with the world’s first 7-speed manual transmission.

Both models have undergone special revamping which replaces 90 percent of the car’s parts while still maintaining Porsche’s distinct lines. Porsche engineers have also reduces the weight by 100 lbs while making the body lower, longer and wider for more aggressive look.

The 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera is powered by a new 3.4L boxer 6-cylinder engine making 350-hp. Coupled to Porsche’s PDK 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, the 911 Carrera sprints from 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds and 4.2 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono Package’s Launch Control function.

While the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S receives a larger displacement with 3.8L boxer engine making 400 hp. Mated to a PDK 7-speed dual-clutch transmission it goes from 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds and 3.9 seconds with the Launch Control function of the optional Sport Chrono Package.

Fuel economy wise, the engine and transmission thermal management, Automatic Start/Stop, electrical system recuperation, and electro-mechanical power steering all help reduce fuel consumption.

Pricing for the new generation starts at $82,100 for the 911 Carrera Coupe and $96,400 for the 911 Carrera S Coupe.
