2012 BMW 3-Series Sedan

To support the launch of the new 2012 BMW 3-Series, BMW of North America unveiled six digital short films as part of their new advertising campaign before it go on sale on February 11, 2012.

The BMW 3-Series Sedan comes bigger in size compared to its predecessor, its track is widen by 37 mm front and 47 mm rear. While its length is 93 mm longer and the wheelbase is augmented by 50 mm. These increases in size make the new BMW 3-Series Sedan more spacious especially for the rear passengers. Though larger in size, the new 3-Series Sedan is 40 kilograms lighter than its predecessor giving it outstanding agility and driving dynamics. Furthermore the new BMW 3-Series range is now available in three variants which include specific exterior and interior trim; the Sport Line, Luxury Line and Modern Line.

The new BMW 3-Series offers a choice of four refined, economical and muscular engines which feature the new BMW TwinPower Turbo technology. These include two diesel engines, the 300-hp 3.0L 6-cylinder petrol engine in the 335i variant and the new 240-hp 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine in the 328i variant. The power is managed by a 6-speed manual transmission (standard) or by the optional 8-speed automatic which can be combined in any engine variants.

The new BMW 3-Series Sedan is part of BMW EfficientDynamics technology line-up, that’s why it also features the Auto Start-Stop function, Brake Energy Regeneration, Optimum Shift Indicator and need-based operation of ancillary components which greatly reduced fuel consumption. In addition to these is the new Driving Experience Control switch which not only offers Comfort, Sport and Sport + options, but also ECO PRO mode. This switch helps drivers to maximize fuel economy based on their driving style.

The new BMW 3-Series also features numbers of driver assistance technology and mobility systems through the BMW ConnecteDrive technology. These include the latest-generation full-color Head-Up Display which projects key information onto the windscreen; this system uses several cameras to project a bird’s eye view above the vehicle. Also new is the parking assistance system which helps the driver to maneuver into parking spaces.

Other assistance technologies available under the BMW ConnectedDrive banner are Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function, the Lane Change Warning System and Lane Departure Warning System with camera-based Collision Warning system. Real-Time Traffic Information (RTTI), BMW Connected, Active Protection occupant protection system, and Advanced eCall are also available.
