Debuted at the 2011 New York Motor Show is BMW‘s latest Z4 sDrive28i Roadster, to compete with the likes of Mercedes-Benz SLK, and Porsche Boxster.

The new BMW Z4 sDrive28i Roadster is the first model in the U.S. to feature the company’s new powerful, efficient and clean TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engine. This engine is another parf of BMW’s on-going development of BMW EfficientDynamics. It is a combination of a twin-scroll turbocharging technology with high-precision direct injection and BMW’s Valvetronic throttle-less control system. This combination further improve the performance and at the same time reduces emissions and fuel consumption.

The 2011 BMW Z4 sDrive28i is powered by a 2.0L TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engine producing 240 hp at 5,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 260 lb-ft at 1,250 rpm. BMW provide no information on its performance figures but compared to the 3.0L inline-6 engine that it replaces in the BMW Z4 sDrive30i it produces more power and torque.

The new BMW Z4 sDrive28i will hit US showrooms this fall with price to be announced closer to launch.
