Renault to build off-roaders based on CAPTUR concept

There is a report that Renault is planning to built a range of off-roaders based on the Renault CAPTUR Concept that debuted last month at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

This family of SUVs will be a joint project with Nissan, and in fact the smallest model will be sharing platform with Nissan Juke. While the larger models will share platform from the next-generation Qashqai and the largest with the X-Trail off-roader. These models will be powered by 1.6 to 1.8 liters gasoline and diesel engines which deliver power ranging from 128 hp to 158 hp.

The Renault CAPTUR Concept will be powered by a 1.6L concept Energy dCi 160 twin-turbo engine producing 160-hp with a maximum torque of 280 lb-ft. Mated to a dual-clutch EDC gearbox it can sprints from 0-62 mph in about 8 seconds with a top speed of 130 mph. It  promise to deliver CO2 emissions of 99 g per kilometer.
