Renault DeZir the concept which debuted last fall at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, could enter production due to the strong consumer reception.

The Renault DeZir Concept is the first project headed by the company’s new design chief Laurens van den Acker, who was previously head of design at Mazda. And because of its strong acceptance in Paris, Renault is considering to built it. Renault may build the concept under its sub-brand which is currently offering high-performance version of Twingo, Clio and Megane hatchbacks.

The Renault DeZir Concept is an electric vehicle powered by an electric synchronous motor making 150-hp and 167 lb-ft of torque allowing it to sprints from 0-62 mph in 5 seconds with a top speed of 112 mph. To achieve maximum weight balance on the front and rear wheels, the engine is placed in the mid rear position. The motor is fueled by a 24kWh lithium-ion battery allowing it to travel a range of 100 miles on a full charge (80 percent charge can be reached in 20 minutes).
