To make us even more familiar with what it can offer, BMW i has just released a new website, Facebook page and Twitter account.

BMW sub-brand BMW i will be debuting two vehicles in 2013, the BMW i3 and BMW i8. The BMW i3 known as the Megacity Vehicle is planned to be an all electric powered vehicle intended to target urban areas. This will be powered by a 150-hp electric-motor fueled by a 35 kWh lithium-ion battery. BMW plans on producing 30,000 units of the i3 a year.

While BMW i8 which will later join BMW i3 in 2013 will be a hybrid car based on BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics concept, whereas it will be designed to have a sporting ability of a high-performance machine but with less fuel consumption and emissions.

Both models will be based on an automotive lightweight design known as the LifeDrive architecture. This concept practically offset the extra 250 to 350 kg of weight typically found in electric powered vehicles. And to do that BMW i will be using aluminum and carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) to lessen the weight of the car thus increasing its range.
