Gaining more and more popularity is one of US’s most fuel efficient cars, the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze which is on its way to surpass 50,000 total sales for the first three months of sales in 2011.

The Chevrolet Cruze is the replacement for the Chevrolet Cobalt which was released a year ago, and with the Cruze’s sales momentum, retail sales are expected to more than triple those of the Cobalt. Furthermore retail sales on import-car markets are also going strong, where Cruze is expected to be 370% higher in California, 225% higher in New York and 230% higher in Florida.

So what’s the reason for the Cruze popularity? According to an internal survey conducted for more than 500 Chevrolet Cruze buyers, exterior styling and fuel efficiency are the top reasons why they purchased Cruze over a competing model.

The 2011 Chevrolet Cruze comes in 4 variants; the LS, Eco, LT and LTZ. The LS model is powered by a 136-hp 1.8L 4-cylinder engine, while the Eco, LT and LTZ model get a 1.4L turbo 4-cylinder Ecotec engine producing 138-hp and 148 lb-ft of torque.  All 2011 Cruze models are available with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission with prices start at $16,995 for the base model to $22,695 for the top-of-the-line model.
