Renault R-Space Concept

Design inspired by the human body, this is the new concept car from Renault known as the R-Space which has celebrated its debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

“With R-Space, it was the pent-up energy in tensed muscles that inspired me,” said Fabrice Pouille, exterior designer. “I wanted to make people feel the urge to caress the body, to make it sensuous – despite the fact that this is an MPV aimed at families.”

The new R-Space concept features a large panoramic windscreen and roof, 21-inch allow wheels, suicide rear doors, and LED lighting units. The body panels are shaped as sculptured volumes in honey-gold paint finish giving it a luxurious look. While the large, vertically-oriented Renault grille gives it more dynamic stance.

For the interior, the seats and dashboard are based from the Renault DeZir concept while the rear has been designed particularly for the youngsters. The rear seats are composed of set of cubes that can be organized in different arrangements giving the kids the space to play freely inside the car.

The Renault R-Space concept is powered by a 900 cc, 3-cylinder engine capable of making 110-hp and 118 lb-ft of torque. With a total weight of 2,866 lbs, it is expected to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 11 seconds with a top speed of 124 mph.  It has an estimated fuel-economy of 63.5 mpg.
