Gumpert Tornante

Among the many cars debuting at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show is the Gumpert Tornante Concept, the company’s second production model following the Apollo and is developed in collaboration with Touring Superleggera.

Touring brand has always been synonymous with elegance, quality and technical innovation. Its Superleggera (Super lightweight) construction technology features a structure made up of thin steel tubes that forms the body’s shape, with hand-hammered alloy panels covering the framework, adding extra strength. Combining this technology with the Gumpert’s expertise on sports cars we can conclude that super car Tornante will be a blending of Italian ingenuity and German advanced engineering.

Gumpert and Touring both agree on the idea of removing anything that is not essential to the vehicle and as a result is a clean shape, superbly proportion rear section and gullwing doors and a wide rear hood. Together with this are composite body panels over a light chrome-molybdenum steel space frame with a carbon fiber monocoque.

Gumpert Tornante will be powered by the Gumper Apollo’s 4.2L V8 biturbo engine capable of making 700-hp and will be mated to a TT40e gearbox with paddle shift control.
