Lotus has a plan of reinventing an iconic classic the Esprit. The concept has been already introduced and the new Lotus Esprit is set to arrive in the spring of 2013.The new Esprit like its predecessor, is a two seat, mid-engine/rear-drive super coupe. Its construction will be based on some variation of aluminum monocoque structure that has become a Lotus signature element and feature alloy body panels.

Lotus is planning to power it with 5.0-liter supercharged V8 using their own design. It will be capable of producing 542 hp and a maximum torque of 531 lb-ft in its conventional form but when fitted with a Formula One-derived KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) it can goes up to 612 hp. Mated with 7-speed dual clutch automated manual transmission it can hit 0-62 mph in just 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 205 mph.  Weight comes in at around 3,190 pounds.

No final pricing yet, but expect the 2013 Lotus Esprit to start around $175,000.
